Re-migration: What It Is and How to Perform It

Need to restart your migration from scratch? Learn what Re-migration is, when to use it, and how to run it step by step in Migrationpro.

What is Re-migration?

Re-migration means restarting your current migration from scratch. All previously migrated data will be re-transferred from your source store to the target store.

Use Re-migration when:

  • Something went wrong during the initial migration

  • You want a clean, fresh transfer of all your data

Note: Re-migration is free as long as your entity count doesn't exceed your purchased entity limit. If it does, you'll need to upgrade your limit first. See: How to Calculate and Upgrade Your Entity Limit

How to Perform Re-migration?

  1. In the Migrationpro dashboard, click Remigrate

  2. In the pop-up, click Edit Migration

  3. Choose the entities you want to migrate

  4. Enable Target Store Data Reset to clear existing data and avoid duplicates. A warning pop-up will appear - read it carefully and click Accept to confirm before proceeding

  5. Click "Next: Full Migration."

Note: Re-migration can create duplicate entities if a full migration was run previously. To avoid this, enable Target Store Data Reset before starting. To learn more, see: Target Store Data Reset
